"slipperysallylikespenguins" (slipperysally)

I recently picked up this little grill/radiator crest and cannot identify it. It has a blue lion on top above a silver knight and a shield. The very bottom says U.S.A. On the back corner it says “A.E.CO. Utica N.Y.” which manufactured many different automakers emblems. First one to figure it out gets 27 internet points.
Edit: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! figured it out. Fintail was very close though. It’s a 1941, 1946-1948 Dodge.

Reminds me of Monte Carlo Knight
badges.

That lion looks like the Peugeot logo

This appears similar to a design used on the early Dodge Coronet.

That was my first thought too but it says USA on it.

I somehow never realized that was a knight’s helmet at the top.

The helmet resembles Handley-Knight ’s, though I can’t find any with the lion.

So this site:
https://emblemagic.com/unrestored.htm
lots 3, 6, and
9 have emblems from what would appear to be the same company (and I think #9 has the exact same emblem). I’m trying to see if I can find that particular shield anywhere ...

Awesome work! I’ve spent hours googling trying to find it. Good to know what it actually is.
That’s a fun site to look around too.

Well, my GIS fun just took a sharp left turn after I discovered the original Dodge family coat of arms >_>
That circle with a dot in the middle? Yep. That’s a tit.

Oh man! I photographed one of those at the LeMay museum last year. I took about 10 photos but not a single one of the badge. Go figure. It was a very striking car in person for being such a basic make.
Edit: I see the car I took pictures of has Pennsylvania plates on it, so it is the one from that Hemmings article.
